Description

We’re looking for a Junior Network/Systems Engineer to join our IT team. You’ll work alongside senior engineers on our network and systems infrastructure, learning enterprise hardware and tools on the job. This is a great fit if you have solid networking fundamentals and want to grow into a network or systems engineering career.

Key Responsibilities

Network & Systems Administration

  • Help set up and maintain switches, routers, Wi-Fi access points (UniFi), FortiGate firewalls and Arista equipment.
  • Under the guidance of senior engineers, configure VLANs, subnets, DHCP, DNS, basic firewall rules and user VPN connections.
  • Perform routine maintenance, firmware updates and security patching.

Monitoring & Support

  • Monitor network uptime and bandwidth alerts, escalating complex issues to senior engineers.
  • Troubleshoot L1/L2 connectivity, Wi-Fi and user VPN access issues.
  • Support the IT Helpdesk with network and systems tickets.

Documentation & Procurement

  • Keep network diagrams, IP tables, port mappings and hardware inventories up to date.
  • Create and track Purchase Requests (PRs) for IT equipment and licenses, request vendor quotes and coordinate hardware deliveries.

Requirements

  • 0–2 years of experience in IT support, helpdesk or junior network/systems administration, or equivalent hands-on practice (home lab, Packet Tracer/GNS3, university or personal projects).
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, NAT, DHCP, DNS and basic routing.
  • Basic Linux command-line skills (Ubuntu, Debian or RHEL).
  • Willingness to learn enterprise hardware and infrastructure tools on the job.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with firewall rules and VPN setup (FortiGate experience is a plus).
  • Basic knowledge of virtual machines (Proxmox VE is a plus).
  • Entry-level certifications (CompTIA Network+, CCNA in progress, Linux Essentials).
  • Experience with enterprise Wi-Fi or basic scripting (Bash, Python).
  • Experience with any diagramming tool (e.g. Draw.io).

Good to Know

  • The role involves hands-on work with hardware: rack mounting, cabling and moving equipment.
  • Maintenance and updates are sometimes scheduled outside business hours.
