The Opportunity
The Junior Product/Project Manager position is a part of the Global IT Department, which is directly overseen by the Group’s CIO. Our team currently comprises over 40IT, software, and data professionals primarily based in Shanghai and Moerdijk(the Netherlands). With our IT presence in Singapore rapidly expanding, we are excited to invite you to join our team!
What You WillWork On
Our Junior product/project managers own business applications and data projects end-to-end, working with our engineers, analysts, and business users across Gentco. As an example of the kind of work involved: we are currently building a decision-making hub for our tanker shipping division, bringing together data from our shipping systems, the internal and external data needed for commercial and operational decisions, and the algorithms and people that make those decisions. A project like this means gathering requirements from chartering and operations teams, working with our data engineers and analysts on what to build, and driving delivery through to adoption. We also think a lot about what product management and software development look like in the LLM era, and we like people who are curious about it: not vibe coding, but tinkering with agent harnesses, setting up agentic workflows, and working out where they change how a team builds and runs software.
As a junior, you would work alongside a senior project lead on a project like this: owning workstreams, gathering requirements, keeping the plan and documentation current, and growing into owning a product yourself.
Over time, this role can grow in two directions: becoming the Product Manager of a major product, owning it end-to-end for its users across Gentco; or becoming an IT Business Partner for one of our business units, managing a portfolio of applications and projects over time. Both need strong project management; which one suits you will show in the work.
Job Responsibilities:
· Gather and document requirements from internal and external users; translate business needs into product improvements and learn the business applications you support well enough to take ownership of parts of them.
· Support projects through their entire lifecycle: help turn ideas into project proposals, track execution, chase down blockers, and run retrospectives and documentation on completion.
· Work collaboratively with our global engineering and data teams to deliver and improve business applications in a highly iterative pattern.
· Learn to take a quantitative approach to project and product management: help define KPIs and metrics for project outcomes, and run user surveys and interviews.
· Experiment with LLM tooling and agentic workflows in your own work: set up harnesses, automate the repetitive parts of your role, and share what actually works with the team.
· Keep project status, decisions, and documentation current in our project tooling (Confluence, Linear) so stakeholders across Shanghai, Moerdijk, and Singapore stay aligned.
· Promote a culture of organizational learning by facilitating knowledge sharing and best practices in documentation.
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree, fresh graduates welcome; open to most majors, with maritime, supply chain, business analytics, or engineering as natural fits
· Smart, adaptable, and a quick learner; comfortable picking up new tools, domains, and people fast
· Strong desire and ability to learn our industry (tanker shipping and tank container logistics) and its operating/business models
· Clear written and verbal communication across technical and non-technical audiences
· Professional fluency in English and Mandarin
· Highly motivated, with a proactive approach to taking ownership of tasks and following through
Desirable Qualities:
· Internship or project experience in maritime, supply chain, logistics, or analytics
· Exposure to project management tooling (Linear, Jira, Confluence, Notion, or similar)
· Basic data skills (Excel, SQL, or Python)
· Interest or hands-on experience with LLM tooling beyond chat: setting up agent harnesses, automating parts of your own work, or building small agentic workflows
