Junior Quality Engineer
Position Summary
The Junior Quality Engineer is responsible for quality control, inspection, and documentation of manufactured parts and finished tools at KNUST-SBD's Singapore facility, ensuring full compliance with API 7-1,API Q1, ISO9001:2015 and customer requirements. The function will support the senior team with shop floor inspection, customer documentation, and preparation of quality packages for customer- supplied and company-manufactured tools, and will assist with HSE administration, helping to modernize and maintain the company's IT and Al systems. The role is a blend of hands-on shop floor quality assurance and administrative/documentation support, working closely under the guidance of the Senior Quality and Operations team.
Key responsibilities
- Support the Senior Operations team in preparing quality documentation packages for customer- supplied and company-manufactured tools.
- Assist with responding to customer technical and quality queries, including document request during bid/tender and order execution stages.
- Help coordinate shop floor inspection scheduling with customers and third party inspection agencies where required.
- Support preparation of customer-facing technical submittals, data books and as built documentation under the direction of Senior team members.
- Perform in-process and final inspection of manufactured parts and finished tools against drawings, specifications, and API/ISO requirements.
- Conduct dimensional, visual, and NDE-coordination inspections at defined hold and witness points across the manufacturing process.
- Verify material traceability-material test certificates (MTC), heat/lot numbers, positive material identification (PMI)-for all manufactured and traded parts.
- Identify non-conformances, initiate corrective and preventive action (CAPA), and follow through to closure.
- Maintain calibration records and ensure inspection/measuring equipment is controlled per the QMS.
- Prepare and issue quality documentation packages for manufactured parts, including inspection reports, Manufacturing Data Records, and Certificates of Conformance.
- Maintain and update quality records in line with API Q1 and ISO 9001:2015 document control requirements.
- Support internal and external audits (API,ISO, and customer audits) by preparing objective evidence and records.
- Assist with day-to-day HSE administration, including maintenance of HSE records, permits, and reporting logs.
Qualification and Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field.
- 1-3 years' experience in a quality, inspection, or QA/QC role within an oilfield equipment, machining, or manufacturing environment; entry level with relevant internship/attachment experience will also be considered.
- Working knowledge of API 7-1/ API Q1 / ISO 9001 documentation and audit processes is an advantages.
- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong analytical skills and IT skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in technical and HSE documentation and record-keeping.
- Organized and able to manage multiple documentation deadlines across quality, senior-team support and HSE workstreams.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with senior colleagues, auditors, and shop floor personnel.
- Operate basic measuring instruments (verniercalipers,micrometers, height gauges, dial indicators).
