Junior Software Developer
Salary: $75,000 – $85,000 per year
About DingGo
DingGo builds modern technology and services transforming automotive claims and repair workflows across Australia. We are a collaborative, growing product team looking for a Junior Software Developer who brings sound programming foundations, high curiosity, great communication skills, and a strong sense of initiative.
If you want to understand how software, business context, product decisions, and real-world users connect, rather than just writing code in a silo, you’ll thrive here.
The Opportunity
Join a tight-knit team working closely with senior engineers and technology leadership (including our CTO) to gain hands-on experience and take genuine, manageable ownership of your work. You'll start by learning our core platform (PHP / CakePHP) and business workflows, expanding into modern frontend interfaces (React) and modern tech practices over time. You will also have access to current AI-assisted development tools, supported by a team rhythm focused on using them safely, effectively, and responsibly.
What You'll Do
Develop features, write clean code, and maintain our established PHP application while contributing to newer frontend and API interfaces as you grow
Work with product managers, senior developers, and operational users to clarify requirements and explain technical concepts clearly
Write tests, debug issues, perform focused workflow checks, and participate constructively in code reviews
Dig into operational defects, figure out root causes, and keep clear documentation to help your teammates
Actively expand your understanding across backend services, relational data, and frontend components at a sustainable, supported pace
What We're Looking For
Practical software development experience (via employment, freelance work, or a substantial, real-world personal project)
Ability to make complicated concepts simple and converse comfortably with both technical and non-technical teammates
Evidence of starting useful things without waiting for every step to be mapped out for you (e.g., a maintained side project, process improvement, volunteer work, or past business venture)
Ability to pick up new tools, frameworks, or domain logic independently and check your own work carefully
Solid understanding of core programming concepts, basic SQL/relational databases, APIs, and Git version control
Why Join Us?
Learn directly from experienced engineers while taking real ownership of bounded features early on
Gain hands-on exposure to modern AI coding tools in an environment that values responsible review and output verification
On-site access to a free gym membership and swimming pool, conveniently located right near public transport
Regular team lunches, office socials, themed days, and team celebrations
Full-time office attendance during your initial onboarding period, transitioning to a flexible hybrid model (minimum 2 days/week in the Rhodes office) once established
To Apply
Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your relevant experience. Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.
