Junior Software Developer

Salary: £30,000 - 35,000 per year

• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics or a related subject, or equivalent practical experience
• Strong foundations in Python development
• Understanding of web development and REST APIs
• Knowledge of SQL and relational databases
• Experience with HTML, CSS and JavaScript
• Familiarity with Git or other version control systems
• Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
• Up to two years of commercial experience, a completed placement year, or recent-graduate status
• Nice to have: exposure to Django or Flask through university projects, internships or personal projects
• Nice to have: experience with AWS or Google Cloud Platform
• Nice to have: knowledge of Docker and CI/CD concepts
• Nice to have: exposure to Pandas, NumPy, R or machine learning
• Nice to have: interest in scientific, healthcare, biotech or data-focused environments

• Develop and maintain Python-based applications and REST APIs
• Build and enhance web applications using frameworks such as Django and Flask
• Work with SQL databases, including PostgreSQL and MySQL
• Support data processing and automation tools used in analytical workflows
• Contribute to testing, debugging and software quality initiatives
• Work with cloud technologies, including AWS and Google Cloud Platform
• Use Git and participate in collaborative development and code reviews
• Learn modern deployment practices, Docker and CI/CD processes
