Junior software engineer joining a small startup to build Argus, a fintech product that audits retail suppliers' payment deductions and automates disputes. Compensation: $45k – $100k • 0.1% – 1.0%

**What Null Labs is** * We build Argus: software that recovers money retail suppliers lose to deductions, fines, and underpayments * Suppliers to major US retailers get money taken off their payment checks across six portals with no APIs; most never fight it * Argus logs in, audits every payment, classifies every deduction, matches it to invoices and shipping docs, and builds the dispute * Deductions are feature one; the end goal is the supplier's entire retailer relationship running through one system **Who we need** * A junior engineer who ships * 1-3 years of professional experience, or a portfolio of shipped projects that proves the equivalent * Strong Python: you can build a data pipeline, an API integration, or a scraper from scratch and it holds up * Solid SQL and comfort with Postgres: schemas, joins, migrations, not just SELECT statements * Hands-on with at least one of: browser automation (Playwright/Puppeteer), ETL/data pipelines, or LLM agent workflows * Experience writing tests (pytest) and working with Git/PRs on a shared codebase * Comfortable with Docker and basic cloud deployment (AWS) * Uses AI coding tools daily as a power user, not a tourist * Honest about what you don't know: asks instead of assuming, flags uncertainty instead of guessing * Works directly with our CTO and first engineer, so you learn fast and your work gets reviewed daily **What you'll be doing** * Building Argus end to end * Parsers that turn messy portal data into clean structured records * Automation that operates inside authenticated enterprise portals * Pieces of the dashboard our client checks daily * Tests, the data quarantine queue, and fixing what breaks * Your code touches a paying client's real money in your first two weeks $45K-$100K depending on experience and location, plus equity Salary ramps as our round closes this fall **To apply** Send your GitHub and one thing you built that works, with a note on what broke while building it No GitHub, no interview
