Junior Technical Business Analyst

MYtech Consulting Services is a growing IT service provider, providing services to public and private sector clients. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Junior Technical Business Analyst for a 12 month fixed-term contract within NTG, supporting the Education Management Transformation Program (EMTP). The EMTP is a multi-year program to uplift the NT Department of Education’s ICT environment to support the implementation of a Student Centric Management Solution including the consolidation of data and reporting facilities from several legacy and nonconforming systems within the education ICT ecosystem.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Support workshops, interviews and stakeholder discussions by preparing materials, capturing notes, and documenting business and technical requirements.
  

• Assist with gathering, analysing and documenting business needs, data requirements, process flows and solution options under the guidance of senior project team members.
  

• Prepare clear and consistent draft business and technical documentation, including requirements registers, process maps, data mapping notes, reporting requirements and configuration support material.
  

• Assist in documenting business and functional requirements relating to information management, reporting, data migration, system integration and configuration activities.
  

• Support walkthroughs and review sessions by recording feedback, updating documentation, and tracking follow-up actions through to closure.
  

• Work with project stakeholders, technical staff and vendors to clarify requirements, confirm assumptions, and escalate issues or dependencies as required.
  

• Support solution architects, technical leads, developers and vendors by maintaining accurate requirements, decisions, actions and dependency records.
  

• Assist with analysis of source systems, reference data and system information to support data mapping, codification, configuration and testing activities.
  

• Contribute to development, process, integration and testing activities by maintaining documentation, supporting issue investigation and helping prepare test evidence.
  

• Work with the testing team to support validation activities and confirm that documented requirements are reflected in test scenarios and outcomes.
  

Essential Skills and Experience

• Demonstrated ability to support business analysis activities, including requirements gathering, documentation, stakeholder engagement and action tracking.
  

• Sound analytical skills with attention to detail and the ability to organise information clearly for review by project teams and stakeholders.
  

• Exposure to ICT projects, systems implementation, system replacement or digital transformation environments.
  

• Ability to communicate effectively with project team members, technical staff, subject matter experts, vendors and business stakeholders.
  

• Ability to support liaison between internal teams and vendor representatives, including documenting decisions, dependencies, risks and follow-up actions.
  

• Basic understanding of data, reporting, interfaces, system configuration and interactions between business processes and ICT systems.
  

• Problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues, document impacts, seek clarification and escalate matters appropriately.
  

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools and the ability to learn project, requirements, testing and collaboration tools quickly.
  

• Ability to provide business analysis and system support during design, build, test, implementation and transition to business-as-usual activities.
  

Desirable Skills and Experience

• Exposure to systems replacement projects or commercial-off-the-shelf products.
  

• Awareness of release management, change requests, impact assessment and deployment processes.
  

• Basic knowledge of data analysis, data mapping, reporting concepts or integration principles.
  

• Experience in an education, government, ICT or software project environment.
  

• Tertiary qualifications in information technology, business analysis, information systems, computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  

• Exposure to collaboration or delivery tools such as Jira, Confluence, DevOps, SharePoint or Microsoft Teams.
