Kitchen Assistant

To support the kitchen team in the preparation of meals, maintenance of kitchen cleanliness, proper handling of food and equipment, and smooth day-to-day kitchen operations while maintaining high standards of hygiene, safety, and food quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist chefs and cooks with basic food preparation, including washing, peeling, cutting, weighing, and portioning ingredients.
- Prepare ingredients and kitchen items as directed by the Chef or Kitchen Supervisor.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen, work surfaces, utensils, equipment, and storage areas.
- Wash and properly store dishes, cooking utensils, pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment.
- Assist with receiving, checking, storing, and organizing food supplies and ingredients.
- Ensure food items are properly labelled, stored, and handled in accordance with food safety standards.
- Monitor kitchen supplies and report low-stock or damaged items to the supervisor.
- Assist in maintaining proper stock rotation and minimizing food wastage.
- Dispose of kitchen waste appropriately and maintain clean waste disposal areas.
- Assist with setting up the kitchen before meal preparation and cleaning up after operations.
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, health, and workplace safety procedures.
- Handle kitchen equipment responsibly and report faults or damaged equipment promptly.
- Support the kitchen team during busy periods to ensure timely preparation and service.
- Perform other kitchen-related duties assigned by the Chef, Kitchen Supervisor, or Management.

- Minimum of SSCE/WAEC or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a kitchen, restaurant, hotel, catering, or food-service environment is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety.

- Good physical stamina and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be neat, responsible, punctual, and attentive to detail.
- Willingness to learn and take direction from senior kitchen staff.
