To support the kitchen team in the preparation of meals, maintenance of kitchen cleanliness, proper handling of food and equipment, and smooth day-to-day kitchen operations while maintaining high standards of hygiene, safety, and food quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist chefs and cooks with basic food preparation, including washing, peeling, cutting, weighing, and portioning ingredients.
  • Prepare ingredients and kitchen items as directed by the Chef or Kitchen Supervisor.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen, work surfaces, utensils, equipment, and storage areas.
  • Wash and properly store dishes, cooking utensils, pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment.
  • Assist with receiving, checking, storing, and organizing food supplies and ingredients.
  • Ensure food items are properly labelled, stored, and handled in accordance with food safety standards.
  • Monitor kitchen supplies and report low-stock or damaged items to the supervisor.
  • Assist in maintaining proper stock rotation and minimizing food wastage.
  • Dispose of kitchen waste appropriately and maintain clean waste disposal areas.
  • Assist with setting up the kitchen before meal preparation and cleaning up after operations.
  • Follow all food safety, hygiene, health, and workplace safety procedures.
  • Handle kitchen equipment responsibly and report faults or damaged equipment promptly.
  • Support the kitchen team during busy periods to ensure timely preparation and service.
  • Perform other kitchen-related duties assigned by the Chef, Kitchen Supervisor, or Management.

  • Minimum of SSCE/WAEC or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a kitchen, restaurant, hotel, catering, or food-service environment is an advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety.

  • Good physical stamina and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be neat, responsible, punctual, and attentive to detail.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from senior kitchen staff.
