Kitchen Assistant
Position Summary
- Support the kitchen team in daily food preparation and kitchen operations.
- Assist chefs in preparing ingredients and maintaining an efficient workflow across kitchen stations.
- Ensure food preparation areas, equipment and utensils are kept clean, organized and hygienic.
- Follow proper food handling, food safety and kitchen hygiene practices.
- Work closely with the kitchen team to support consistent food quality and smooth service operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients including vegetables, meat, seafood and other food items by washing, peeling, cutting, chopping and portioning.
- Assist chefs with daily food preparation and basic kitchen duties.
- Prepare and replenish ingredients required at designated kitchen stations.
- Assist with the preparation of sauces, garnishes, condiments and other basic food items as required.
- Ensure ingredients are properly stored, labelled and handled according to food safety requirements.
- Check the freshness and condition of ingredients before use and report any issues to the Chef or Kitchen Supervisor.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of food preparation areas, cooking stations, kitchen equipment and utensils.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, tools and work surfaces after use.
- Assist with dishwashing and general kitchen cleaning duties when required.
- Handle kitchen waste and ensure proper disposal in accordance with hygiene requirements.
- Organize ingredients, utensils and kitchen supplies to ensure stations are properly prepared for service.
- Replenish ingredients and supplies during service to support uninterrupted kitchen operations.
- Follow established kitchen SOPs, food safety and hygiene standards at all times.
- Assist chefs and other kitchen team members during busy service periods.
- Work cooperatively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient daily operations.
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe working environment throughout the kitchen.
- Perform other kitchen-related duties as assigned by the Chef or Kitchen Supervisor.
Requirements
- 1–2 years of relevant kitchen experience in Chinese F&B establishments.
- Experience in Chinese cuisine kitchen operations will be an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation, food handling and kitchen hygiene.
- Familiar with basic kitchen equipment, utensils and food preparation procedures.
- Positive, responsible and hardworking with a willingness to learn.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Able to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Physically fit and comfortable with hands-on kitchen duties.
- Training will be provided to suitable candidates.
