Knowledge lawyer – Funds & Asset Management

The role

This position is based in our Funds & Asset Management team. We advise the world's leading fund sponsors, asset managers and institutional investors on the formation and operation of a broad range of investment products, including closed-ended and open-ended funds, evergreen platforms, permanent capital vehicles, managed accounts and co-investment structures. Our practice spans all major asset classes, including private equity, private credit, infrastructure and real estate.

We advise clients on the full lifecycle of investment funds, from primary fundraising and fund formation through to secondary transactions, fund restructurings and other strategic asset management matters. Working closely with our tax and regulatory specialists across jurisdictions, we provide seamless, commercially focused advice on complex domestic and cross-border matters.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct research on complex legal and regulatory topics relevant to investment funds and asset management, and provide tailored legal support to the team.
  • Draft legal memoranda, practice notes, client briefings and know-how materials, and contribute to internal and external publications.
  • Prepare client communications and thought leadership materials showcasing Clifford Chance's expertise.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting the funds industry and disseminate key updates to the team.
  • Contribute to lawyer education programmes and organise internal training sessions, meetings and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Gather, structure and maintain the team's know-how and contribute to the development of the department's knowledge resources.
  • Maintain and enhance the template library, identify gaps, develop new precedents and update knowledge platforms.
  • Ensure coordination and alignment of knowledge management initiatives within the Luxembourg office and across the global Funds & Asset Management practice.
  • Actively participate in local and global knowledge management projects and initiatives.

Your experience

  • Excellent academic background in law, with experience in legal research, drafting and publishing articles, and ideally supporting training sessions, presentations or conferences.
  • Demonstrates strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple workstreams and stakeholders effectively.
  • Interest/experience in investment funds, asset management and related regulatory developments. Previous exposure to funds, asset management or financial services matters is a strong advantage.
  • Candidates with experience in other legal practice areas or professional support/knowledge management roles will be considered where they can demonstrate transferable skills and a genuine interest in developing funds expertise.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently, seeing projects and initiatives through to completion.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive and collaborative, with a pragmatic and hands-on approach, strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Able to work effectively with lawyers and business professionals across all levels of seniority.
  • Fluent in English and French; German and/or Luxembourgish would be an asset.
  • Strong command of Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Experience with knowledge management systems, legal technology or related tools would be an advantage.
