Knowledge Management and Research Officer
Summary
Designs and maintains knowledge systems, documents lessons learned, and produces research outputs to support an NGO’s programs and adaptive management.
Knowledge
Management Systems and Learning:
- Support the design, implementation, and
continuous improvement of CASFOD’s Knowledge Management (KM) systems,
frameworks, processes, and tools.
- Develop and maintain knowledge management
guidelines, templates, workflows, and standard operating procedures to
promote effective documentation and knowledge sharing.
- Manage digital knowledge repositories and
information management platforms to ensure that organizational documents,
reports, tools, research outputs, and learning resources are properly
stored, organized, and accessible.
- Establish and maintain systems for
capturing institutional knowledge, including programme experiences,
innovations, challenges, and emerging practices.
- Lead the systematic documentation of
lessons learned from CASFOD’s projects, interventions, assessments,
reviews, and programme implementation experiences.
- Develop lessons learned products,
including learning briefs, reflection notes, case studies, success
stories, and programme improvement recommendations.
- Facilitate After-Action Reviews (AARs),
pause-and-reflect sessions, learning workshops, and programme reflection
meetings to capture insights and promote adaptive management.
- Support the establishment and
coordination of Communities of Practice (CoPs) and internal learning
platforms to encourage knowledge exchange among CASFOD staff and partners.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning,
innovation, and evidence use across the organization.
Research
and Evidence Generation:
- Support the planning, design, and
implementation of research studies, assessments, evaluations, and learning
activities conducted by CASFOD.
- Conduct literature reviews, desk reviews,
evidence synthesis, and contextual analysis to inform programme
development and strategic planning.
- Support the development of research
methodologies, protocols, data collection tools, interview guides, and
research frameworks.
- Participate in qualitative and
quantitative data collection activities, including Key Informant
Interviews (KIIs), Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), surveys, and
stakeholder consultations.
- Collaborate with MEAL and Programme team
to analyze and visualize programme, research, and evaluation data to
generate actionable insights, identify trends, and provide evidence-based
recommendations for decision-making and programme improvement.
- Support the preparation of research
reports, technical papers, policy briefs, learning documents, and evidence
summaries.
- Support publication and dissemination of
CASFOD’s research findings through conferences, learning events, technical
forums, and online platforms.
Knowledge
Products Development and Dissemination:
- Develop, edit, and package high-quality
knowledge products, including: Lessons learned reports, Learning briefs,
Case studies, Success stories, Research reports, technical briefs, Policy
briefs, Programme summaries, Presentations and infographics
- Translate technical information, research
findings, and programme data into clear, user-friendly knowledge products
for different audiences.
- Ensure quality assurance, accuracy,
consistency, and proper documentation of CASFOD’s knowledge assets.
- Support dissemination of learning
products through internal communication channels, partner networks,
workshops, and digital platforms.
- Maintain an organized database of
knowledge products, publications, research materials, and organizational
learning resources.
Digital
Knowledge Platforms, Innovation, and Research Collaboration:
- Develop
dashboards, analytical reports, and evidence products to strengthen
programme learning and adaptive management.
- Support the
management and optimization of CASFOD’s digital knowledge platforms,
repositories, and learning systems to improve knowledge access and
sharing.
- Promote the use
of innovative digital tools, including AI-enabled solutions, for knowledge
capture, analysis, and dissemination.
- Support
research collaborations, publications, and learning engagements with
academic institutions, government agencies, and development partners.
- Provide
research inputs for proposals, concept notes, strategic documents, and
organizational learning products.
Compliance,
Safeguarding and Other Duties
- Ensure that Knowledge Management and
Research activities adhere to organizational policies, donor requirements
and relevant humanitarian standards (e.g., Core Humanitarian Standard,
Sphere).
- Integrate protection, gender, age,
inclusion and safeguarding considerations into all Knowledge Management
and Research activities and interactions with communities.
- Uphold the organization’s code of
conduct, values and confidentiality requirements at all times, especially
when handling personal or sensitive data.
Perform any other
tasks assigned by the MEAL Coordinator or line manager that are consistent with
the role and organizational needs.
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Knowledge
Management, Research Methods, Development Studies, Social Sciences,
Monitoring and Evaluation, Information Management, Communications, or
related disciplines.
- A postgraduate qualification in a
relevant field is an added advantage.
· Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in
knowledge management, research, learning, monitoring and evaluation, or related
roles preferably with an NGO or humanitarian organization.
· Demonstrated experience in documenting lessons
learned, developing knowledge products, and supporting evidence generation.
· Experience supporting research studies,
assessments, evaluations, and learning initiatives.
Experience managing digital knowledge
repositories and information-sharing systems.
