Job Summary
The Seasonal Coffee Bar Associate creates a welcoming experience for guests visiting St. Mary KOA, the gateway to Glacier National Park. This position is responsible for preparing and serving coffee beverages, assisting with retail sales, stocking groceries and souvenirs, maintaining a clean and organized coffee bar and camp store area, operating the point-of-sale system, and delivering exceptional customer service to campers, travelers, and visitors from around the world.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Greet guests warmly and provide exceptional customer service.
- Take customer orders accurately and efficiently.
- Answer questions regarding menu items, campground amenities, and local attractions.
- Resolve guest concerns professionally and escalate issues when necessary.
- Promote a positive and welcoming atmosphere that reflects KOA's hospitality standards.
Beverage and Food Preparation
- Prepare coffee, espresso-based beverages, teas, smoothies, and other menu offerings according to established recipes and quality standards.
- Prepare and serve pastries, snacks, and light food items as applicable.
- Monitor product freshness and presentation.
- Restock ingredients, supplies, and merchandise throughout the shift.
Cash Handling and Point of Sale
- Operate the POS system accurately.
- Process cash, credit card, and mobile payments.
- Balance cash drawer and follow established cash-handling procedures.
Cleaning and Food Safety
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of coffee bar equipment, counters, seating areas, and food preparation spaces.
- Follow all food safety, health, and sanitation regulations.
- Perform opening, closing, and daily cleaning procedures.
- Monitor inventory levels and notify management of supply needs.
Retail and Merchandising
- Stock, organize, and replenish grocery items, beverages, camping supplies, snacks, and souvenir merchandise throughout the day.
- Maintain attractive and well-organized product displays to enhance the guest shopping experience.
- Monitor inventory levels and notify management when products need reordering.
- Rotate stock and check expiration dates to ensure product quality and freshness.
- Assist guests with locating merchandise and answering questions about products.
- Help receive, unpack, price, and shelve deliveries of retail merchandise and supplies.
- Keep retail, grocery, and souvenir areas clean, neat, and fully stocked.
Teamwork
- Work collaboratively with campground, retail, and hospitality staff.
- Assist with special events and busy periods as needed.
- Support overall campground guest experience through a positive and team-oriented attitude.
Qualifications
- Previous coffee shop, café, restaurant, retail, or customer service experience preferred but not required.
- Barista experience is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Dependable, punctual, and customer-focused.
- Basic math and cash-handling skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Comfortable working in a busy hospitality environment.
Work Schedule
- Flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Seasonal position with varying hours based on campground occupancy and business needs.
