Konsultuppdrag | Senior PHP Developer

We are looking for an experienced software engineer for an exciting consulting assignment with an established international SaaS company.

You will join a development team working on the continued development and modernization of a complex backend platform. A key part of the assignment involves refactoring an existing monolith, improving its architecture and gradually migrating parts of the system from CodeIgniter to Laravel.

We are looking for a developer with strong engineering fundamentals, a solid understanding of software architecture and proven experience refactoring large or poorly structured codebases. Experience with PHP is beneficial, but the ability to navigate complex systems and drive large-scale technical improvements is more important than expertise in any particular programming language. The team also makes extensive use of AI-powered development tools and coding agents.

We believe you have:

• Several years of experience in software development, preferably backend.

• Proven experience refactoring and modernizing large, complex codebases.

• A strong understanding of software architecture, design principles and maintainable code.

• The ability to navigate unfamiliar systems and drive technical improvements independently.

• Experience with PHP is a plus, particularly Laravel and/or CodeIgniter.

• Experience working across multiple programming languages and technologies.

• Experience with AI-powered development tools and coding agents is a plus. Vue and/or jQuery are also beneficial.

Assignment details:

• Location: Stockholm / Remote.

• Scope: Full-time.

• Duration: 3 months with possibility of extension.

• Hourly rate: Up to about 800 SEK/hour.

• Start date: ASAP.
