Job Summary: As a Reporter, you pair with a Photojournalist to develop, write, and deliver enterprise and daily news stories that resonate with viewers across the Tulsa metro area. You bring strong on-camera presence, sharp editorial judgment, and a passion for storytelling to every assignment. From breaking news to in-depth features, you'll dig past the surface of a story, build trusted sources across the community, all in service of keeping Oklahomans safe, informed, and connected to their communities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop sources and pitch daily enterprise stories to lead a newscast that resonates with people in the Tulsa metro area.
- Partner with a Photojournalist, communicating constantly to craft compelling, visually driven stories.
- Conduct interviews, gather information, and produce news stories for broadcast, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and adherence to journalistic standards.
- Report live in the field with a Photojournalist, providing clear updates as stories develop.
- Create content for digital and social media platforms.
- Foster meaningful connections with our audience through social media engagement, community outreach, and participation in public events.
- Uphold journalistic standards, ethics, and best practices in all aspects of reporting and storytelling, ensuring accuracy, fairness, and balance in coverage.
- Stay informed about current events, industry trends, and emerging technologies in broadcast journalism.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in responding to changing news events, deadlines, and priorities.
- Lead by example, supporting other Reporters and MMJs in the newsroom.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned, including driving an automobile for company business.
Job Schedule: This is a full-time position primarily working 40 hours per week. You may also be called upon at times to fill in other hours and days of the week to help cover vacations, illnesses, breaking news, severe weather, or special projects/events. This position is not eligible to work remotely.
