Role summary

Provide frontline triage and resolution for Kubernetes cluster requests on AliCloud. You will own tickets from intake through resolution in a Slack-based support channel, escalating to platform engineering only when a confirmed defect or capacity change is required; you will help customers understand their requirements, bring our existing solutions to them or collect new requirement to platform engineering team to figure out a proper solution together.

This is a full-time role based in China, preferably Shanghai.

English and Mandarin communication skills and 1–2 hours of working-time overlap with US Pacific Time are required.

Requirements

Kubernetes operation

• Cluster lifecycle: hands-on experience with cluster creation, update, deletion, and node pool management; able to recover clusters from stuck states with guidance
• Version upgrades: has participated in version upgrades; able to follow runbooks and assist in upgrade-failure diagnosis
• RBAC: working knowledge of ClusterRole / RoleBinding; aware of side eMects on node rotation
• Kubeconfig & kubectl: able to troubleshoot common kubeconfig and kubectl issues; basic understanding of API server behavior and request throttling
• CKA certificate: a big plus, not mandatory

Public cloud

• AliCloud or AWS: basic knowledge of AliCloud authentication and common components
• AliCloud ACK and RAM: a better understanding is a big plus

Devops

Familiar with terraform or pulumi

• Has concept of CI/CD; familiar with one of the main CI/CD tools
• Basic Linux knowledge and shell commands
• Basic network knowledge; understands common network protocols
• Familiar with Python or Golang programming language

Communication

• Fluent in both Chinese and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills
• A good listener; able to describe problems clearly and concisely
• Comfortable with documentation work and used to maintaining docs as part of daily work

Required Qualifications

• 2–5 years of hands-on experience in Kubernetes operations or related infrastructure work
• Basic working knowledge of at least one public cloud (AliCloud or AWS)
• Familiar with at least one CI/CD tool
• Basic Linux, shell, and network knowledge
• Able to write or modify scripts in Python or Golang
• Able to follow runbooks and escalate issues when needed
• Good communication and documentation skills
• CKA certificate is a plus, but not required

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification in one or more of: CKA or CKAD; AWS Solutions Architect (Associate/Professional), or AliCloud certificates
• Infrastructure-as-code exposure (Terraform, Pulumi)
• Prior AliCloud experience, or demonstrated rapid ramp on an unfamiliar cloud provider. AliCloud talent is scarce in the market; evidence of learning a new provider quickly is an acceptable and expected substitute
• Experience supporting internal developer platforms in a large enterprise
• Familiarity with hybrid connectivity between corporate networks and public cloud
