The Labor and Delivery Physician Assistant is an integral member of a dynamic, collaborative obstetric team, providing high-quality, hands-on care primarily within the Labor & Delivery unit. Working closely with Attending Physicians, nurses, and the multidisciplinary team, the PA plays an active role in the evaluation, management, and coordination of care for patients throughout their Labor & Delivery experience.
This fast-paced position offers a unique opportunity for a Physician Assistant to develop specialized expertise in obstetric care while participating directly in the clinical and procedural management of patients on Labor & Delivery.
The PA evaluates patients presenting to Labor & Delivery, obtains comprehensive medical histories and performs physical examinations, orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic studies, develops diagnoses and treatment plans, prescribes medications, and provides ongoing assessment and management throughout the patient's stay.
A key component of the position is hands-on procedural and surgical experience, including assisting with Cesarean deliveries and working alongside obstetricians in the management of both routine and higher-acuity obstetric patients.
The PA also supports the inpatient postpartum service as needed, including rounding, clinical management, patient and family education, care coordination, consultations, and discharge planning.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Physician Assistant who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented clinical environment and is looking for a role that combines clinical decision-making, procedural and surgical experience, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the rewarding experience of caring for patients and families during labor and delivery.
