Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented L1 SOC Analyst to serve as the frontline defense across a diverse, multi-client enterprise portfolio. Operating in a high-consequence, 24/7 environment, you will be responsible for real-time security monitoring, initial triage, and rapid incident response. Working on a rotational shift schedule, this role provides an ideal platform to sharpen your threat detection skills, execute structured incident playbooks, collaborate closely with L2 escalation leads, and protect enterprise clients from emerging cyber threats.

Key Responsibilities

• Real-Time Monitoring & Triage: Monitor security events, SIEM alerts, and telemetry across multi-client environments to identify, triage, and evaluate potential security incidents.

• Initial Incident Investigation: Execute initial log analysis, endpoint telemetry reviews (EDR/XDR), and network traffic checks to validate alert authenticity and suppress false positives.

• Escalation & Handoff: Correlate preliminary findings against playbooks and smoothly escalate high-fidelity, high-priority threats to L2 SOC Analysts with clear, detailed investigative context.

• Playbook Execution & Containment: Perform initial isolation and basic containment actions (e.g., host isolation, credential resets, IP blocking) following established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

• Shift Operations & Handovers: Work on a rotating shift schedule (including nights, weekends, and public holidays) to ensure seamless 24/7 SOC coverage; conduct thorough shift handovers to maintain operational continuity.

• Documentation & Ticketing: Accurately document investigation steps, alert metrics, and resolution summaries within the ticketing system to support client reporting and SOC operational metrics.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

• Experience: 2–3 years of hands-on experience in IT security, network operations, or a dedicated SOC environment (MSSP or Systems Integrator experience is a strong advantage).

• Shift Availability: Willingness and ability to work on a 24/7 rotating shift schedule (including day/night rotations, weekends, and public holidays).

• Communication & Languages: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Technical Skills & Knowledge

• Basic to intermediate understanding of Windows/Linux internals, networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing), and Active Directory.

• Hands-on familiarity with enterprise SIEM and EDR/XDR platforms, with functional experience reading basic queries (e.g., SPL, KQL).

• Familiarity with common attack vectors (e.g., phishing, malware, brute force) and foundational security frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK or NIST SP 800-61.

• Basic scripting awareness (PowerShell, Python, or Bash) for automating repetitive tasks is a plus.

Preferred Certifications

• CompTIA Security+ / CySA+

• EC-Council Certified SOC Analyst (CSA) / CEH

• Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst Associate (SC-200)

• Cisco CCNA CyberOps / GIAC Information Security Fundamentals (GSEC)
