Job Summary

We are looking for a UNIX L2 Engineer to provide second-level support for UNIX/RHEL systems. The ideal candidate will troubleshoot escalated issues from L1, collaborate with teams to implement resolutions, and support operational stability of enterprise systems. The role involves monitoring, troubleshooting, and supporting Unix-based systems.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver L2 support for UNIX/RHEL servers to maintain high availability and optimal system performance
  • Troubleshoot and resolve escalated incidents from L1 teams promptly to minimize downtime
  • Collaborate with L1 and L3 teams to conduct root cause analysis and implement effective solutions
  • Perform continuous system monitoring, apply patches, and manage configurations to ensure system integrity
  • Adhere to ITIL processes for incident, problem, and change management to maintain operational standards
  • Document incidents, resolutions, and operational procedures to support knowledge sharing and compliance

Required competencies and certifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in UNIX/Linux (RHEL) administration to support enterprise environments
  • Proven experience in L2 support and troubleshooting, including analyzing logs and tuning system performance
  • Observability and Monitoring experience like ELK, Datadog, Solarwinds is good to have.
  • Experience in shell scripting (Bash, Python, etc.) to automate routine tasks and improve operational efficiency
  • ITIL Foundation certification to ensure adherence to IT service management best practices
  • Experience collaborating with L1 teams to escalate issues and coordinate timely resolutions

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Understanding of storage, backup, and network fundamentals to support infrastructure components
  • Experience using ticketing systems and ITSM tools to manage incidents and service requests efficiently
  • Familiarity with cloud or virtualization platforms such as AWS, VMware, or Nutanix to support hybrid environments
  • Exposure to system tuning, capacity planning, and advanced troubleshooting techniques to optimize resources
