Job Purpose

To manage, maintain, and optimize the organization’s server infrastructure across Linux, Windows, and VMware platforms as part of L2 Support. The role involves ensuring system availability, performance, security, and supporting IT operations with proactive monitoring and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

1. Server & OS Management

· Install, configure, and administer Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu/CentOS) and Windows Server environments.

· Perform OS upgrades, patch management, and security hardening.

· Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies, and user access.

· Handle server performance monitoring and tuning.

2. Virtualization (VMware)

· Manage and maintain VMware ESXi / vCenter environments.

· Create, clone, migrate, and optimize virtual machines.

· Monitor virtual infrastructure health (CPU, RAM, Storage).

· Configure HA, vMotion, DRS, snapshots, backups.

3. Backup & Disaster Recovery

· Implement and monitor backup systems (Veeam / Acronis / Nakivo / others).

· Ensure DR readiness and perform regular recovery drills.

· Maintain backup logs and documentation.

4. System Monitoring & Troubleshooting

· Use monitoring tools like Nagios / Zabbix / PRTG / SolarWinds.

· Troubleshoot system, network, and performance issues.

· Manage incident tickets and root cause analysis (RCA).

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams for resolution.

5. Security & Compliance

· Implement OS-level security policies and hardening.

· Coordinate with security teams for vulnerability management.

· Maintain compliance with IT policies and audit guidelines.

6. Documentation & Reporting

· Maintain documentation of configurations and changes.

· Create SOPs, installation guides, and troubleshooting procedures.

· Prepare weekly and monthly system health reports.

Required Skills & Technical Expertise

Linux: RHEL / CentOS / Ubuntu administration, shell scripting, systemd, LVM
Windows: Windows Server, AD, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, PowerShell
VMware: ESXi, vCenter, vSphere, vMotion, DRS, snapshots
Networking: TCP/IP, VLANs, routing basics, firewalls
Monitoring: Nagios, Zabbix, PRTG, SolarWinds
Backup: Veeam / Acronis / Nakivo / CommVault
Others: ITIL basics, documentation skills, ticketing tools (JIRA/ServiceNow)

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / IT / Engineering.
Preferred Certifications (Any one of the following certifications is mandatory):

· Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
(Exams: AZ-800 & AZ-801)

· Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)

· Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104 – Preferred)

· L2 Windows Server Administrator

· Red Hat Certifications:

o Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA – EX200)

o Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE – EX294)

o Red Hat Certified Specialist in Linux Diagnostics & Troubleshooting

o Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA)

· VMware Certified Professional (VCP)

· ITIL Foundation
