Role Overview

We are hiring a L3 Engineer to own and drive the proactive remediation of technology risk across our trade-processing platform. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on keeping our runtime, data stores, libraries, and infrastructure current, secure, and supportable — reducing the risk of outages, security exposure, and end-of-life (EOL) software. You will working on upgrade and hardening programs end-to-end: planning, risk assessment, testing, phased rollout, and verification — with a strong bias toward zero data loss and zero unplanned downtime.

You will work closely with platform, infrastructure, and application teams across the firm. Knowledge of Microservices Architecture is must.

Key Responsibilities:

Security & Transport Hardening

• Lead HTTP ? HTTPS/TLS migrations across services and data stores.
• Manage certificates, keystores, and secure credential rotation.
• Ensure clients, dashboards, and ingest pipelines are updated for secured endpoints.

Software Currency / End-of-Life Remediation

• Track and remediate end-of-life / end-of-support software libraries and runtimes.
• Identify and resolve CVEs / vulnerable dependencies; drive version upgrades across the dependency graph.
• Maintain an inventory of technology risk items with clear remediation roadmaps.
• Familiarity with observability tooling (e.g., Grafana, Kibana, Prometheus).Exposure to GitLab CI/CD, Kaniko image builds, and infrastructure-as-code.

Java Runtime Modernization

• Drive Java upgrades (e.g., Java 8/11/17 ? Java 21 LTS), including code and build changes, deprecated-API remediation, and performance/compatibility validation.
• Address breaking changes in frameworks, serialization, and third-party libraries.

Kubernetes & Deployment

• Maintain and upgrade workloads on Kubernetes (deployments, services, ingress/HTTP proxies, namespaces).
• Support containerized build/release pipelines (CI/CD), image hardening, and safe rollout/rollback strategies.
• Partner with infrastructure teams on cluster upgrades and capacity/resilience.

Risk, Process & Documentation

• Produce upgrade runbooks, rollback plans, and post-implementation verification steps.
• Take and validate backups/snapshots before high-risk changes.
• Communicate change windows, risks, and status to stakeholders and support teams.

Required Skills & Experience

• Solid Java background, including experience migrating across major Java versions (ideally up to Java 17/21 LTS).
• Experience remediating EOL software and security vulnerabilities (CVEs) across a dependency graph (Maven/Gradle or npm ecosystems).
• Working knowledge of TLS/PKI: certificates, keystores/truststores, HTTPS enablement.
• Practical Kubernetes experience: deployments, services, ingress, rollouts/rollbacks, and container build pipelines (Docker, CI/CD).
• Strong troubleshooting, risk assessment, and clear written communication.
