Job Summary:

The Laboratory Application Analyst is responsible for reviewing, analyzing and evaluating end user needs as they relate to applicable laboratory systems. The role is responsible for the configuration and maintenance of systems to parallel overall business and laboratory strategies. This includes serving as an internal resource and subject matter expert regarding the Laboratory Application System (LIS) and will assist with system upgrades and implementations. The Laboratory Application Analyst will work with internal customers to understand their system requirements. while mapping process models and assisting with the design of technical solutions to satisfy requirements. The role also includes responsibility for providing education to all internal end-users on available system functionality.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions
  • Provide daily support and education for the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and LIS users including lab workflow, instrument integration and lab reporting. Provide after hours support as needed.

  • Configure and maintain the LIS and other lab systems and applications to parallel overall business and laboratory strategies.
  • Provide support for all LIS system upgrades and implementations including the creation of test plans and the coordination of the testing process for all areas of the lab.
  • Monitor system and lab interface performance for effectiveness and make recommendations for changes as needed.
  • Coordinate with external vendors, as required, during system implementations/upgrades or instrument integration projects.
  • Directly communicate and collaborate with internal and external customers promoting a transparent work environment for all IT initiatives, while directly collaborating within business and clinical environments.
  • Maintains systems documentation and policies/procedures for the LIS.
  • Provides quality customer service, serving as an exemplary representative of the organization’s mission, vision and values.
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements that impact the LIS such as JCAHO, FDA, and other State Laboratory Regulations.
  • Participates in post implementation change evaluation and supports users in maintaining changed work-flow and technological processes.

Qualifications

Job Requirements Minimum Education
  • Bachelor of Science degree medical technology, computer science or related field.
Minimum Work Experience
  • Minimum two (2) years experience working with Laboratory Information Systems.
Required Skills
  • Exemplary analytical and problem solving skills.Previous experience with Meditech is preferred.
