Lab Apprentice - Microbiology (6 months)
Summary
Performs supervised lab testing and maintenance in a microbiology lab, learning standard procedures and safety protocols while maintaining records and documentation.
- Support routine laboratory testing activities under supervision.
- Learn and apply laboratory test methods, work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Perform basic laboratory tasks according to training progression and competency assessment.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
- Ensure confidentiality of customer information and laboratory data.
- Follow Good Laboratory Practice, Good Housekeeping and laboratory safety requirements.
- Assist in cleaning, maintenance and verification of laboratory equipment under supervision.
- Use personal protective equipment appropriately and comply with SGS HSE requirements at all times.
- Complete assigned training modules, competency assessments, learning logs and improvement project presentation.
- Perform any other responsibilities as assigned by the reporting manager, Section Head or Senior Management.
- At all times, adopt a safe behavior by exercising due regards for the health and safety of SGS employees and clients, in line with SGS Policies and procedures.
- At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.
- Perform any other responsibilities as assigned by his/her superior.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in science background preferable.
- Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Internship or laboratory exposure is an added advantage.
- No prior working experience required; training will be provided.
The employee will undergo the Lab Apprentice Program, which will cover the following:
- Basic training including Safety induction, ISO 17025 induction training, laboratory skill training
- On job training under department including competency training, lab testing procedure, equipment maintenance, QAQC exposure etc.
- Competency assessment conducted by peers or supervisors to prove the competency of the testing
