Lab Tech
The Laboratory Technician at The Spine & Pain Center plays a crucial role in supporting the clinic’s diagnostic and treatment processes by collecting, processing, and analyzing laboratory specimens. This role ensures the accuracy, efficiency, and compliance of laboratory procedures while maintaining high-quality patient care. The Laboratory Technician will work closely with the Lab Coordinator and healthcare providers to facilitate timely and accurate lab results essential for patient treatment plans.
Primary Responsibilities:
Specimen Collection & Processing
- Collect urine and other biological samples from patients in a safe and professional manner.
- Properly label, store, and prepare specimens for in-house testing or external laboratory processing.
- Follow strict protocols to prevent contamination and ensure sample integrity.
Laboratory Testing & Analysis
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of laboratory test results to providers.
- Maintain detailed records of all laboratory tests, results, and quality control checks.
Compliance & Quality Control
- Adhere to patient confidentiality and all regulatory requirements, including CLIA, OSHA, and HIPAA.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring regular cleaning, calibration, and troubleshooting as needed.
- Properly handle and dispose of biohazard materials according to safety protocols.
Administrative & Collaborative Duties
- Assist providers in interpreting test results when necessary.
- Assist with maintaining inventory of laboratory supplies and order replacements as needed.
- Communicate with external laboratories for specialized testing and results retrieval.
- Assist with other projects or office tasks as needed.
