Lab Technician (7-Month Maternity Cover)

Job Summary

Join Arkema's Laboratory team as a Laboratory Technician on a 7-month contract basis (Maternity Cover), where you will support daily laboratory operations and quality control activities within our chemical manufacturing facility.

You will be responsible for conducting laboratory testing, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of test results, maintaining laboratory equipment and supporting compliance with established quality and safety standards. The role works closely with the Laboratory team and other site functions to ensure smooth and efficient plant operations.

Responsibilities

• Receive, collect and sort laboratory samples for testing.

• Perform incoming, in-process and outgoing quality checks in a timely manner.

• Accurately document test results, report deviations and investigate anomalies.

• Maintain, calibrate, validate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to ensure reliable testing operations.

• Ensure compliance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Quality Control plans.

• Manage laboratory consumables, stocks and orders to support daily laboratory operations.

• Support laboratory inspections, audits and follow-up actions on audit findings.

• Participate in laboratory improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and testing reliability.

• Participate in shift handovers to ensure continuity of laboratory operations.

• Ensure compliance with Arkema's Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) policies and procedures.

• Participate in HSEQ activities, risk assessments and corrective actions.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• NITEC or Diploma in Material Science, Chemistry or a related discipline.

• Knowledge of organic chemistry and analytical chemistry.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and SAP.

• Good analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills.

• Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a team.

• Self-driven and proactive individual with the ability to plan and prioritise tasks.

• Willing to perform shift work.
