Performs laboratory testing and analysis on oil, gas, chemical, and petrochemical samples using approved methods (ASTM, ISO, IP, UOP), records and reports results, and maintains equipment calibration, quality control, and HSEQ compliance. Requires a science/chemistry diploma or degree and willingness to work 12-hour rotating shifts.
Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory testing and analysis on oil, gas, chemical, and related samples using approved test methods, laboratory procedures, and analytical instruments.
- Conduct testing in accordance with applicable international standards (e.g. ASTM, ISO, IP, UOP, or other recognised methods), Company procedures, and client requirements.
- Interpret, verify, and accurately record test results, ensuring timely reporting in accordance with established quality standards and turnaround times.
- Prepare, review, and complete laboratory worksheets, test reports, certificates of analysis, and other laboratory documentation accurately and promptly.
- Ensure all laboratory activities comply with the Company's Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) policies, laboratory safety procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of testing, observations, equipment usage, and quality control activities in accordance with the laboratory quality management system.
- Perform routine quality control checks, calibration verification, and basic maintenance of laboratory equipment to ensure reliable and accurate test results. Report equipment malfunctions or abnormalities promptly.
- Handle, store, and dispose of laboratory samples, chemicals, and waste materials safely and in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards and ensure laboratory work areas, equipment, and instruments are clean, organised, and operational.
- Keep up to date with laboratory testing methods, analytical techniques, industry standards, and safety practices through training and continuous professional development.
- Support laboratory investigations, proficiency testing, method validation, and continuous improvement initiatives where required.
- Collaborate effectively with Surveyors, laboratory personnel, and other internal stakeholders to ensure efficient sample processing and timely delivery of test results.
- Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Company from time to time.
Requirements
- Diploma / Degree in Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Relevant work experience in the OGC industry or a laboratory environment is an advantage.
- Ability to understand and follow ASTM standards and procedures.
- Comfortable working with chemicals, petrochemical, and petroleum products.
- Able to accurately differentiate colours by sight.
- Able to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks with different deadlines.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- High level of accuracy with strong attention to detail.
- Able to multitask and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Positive attitude and good teamwork.
- Willing to learn and adapt to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
- Proactive in maintaining good housekeeping standards before and after work.
- Dependable and reliable, with good attendance and commitment to work.
- Required to work 12-hour rotating day and night shifts upon confirmation of employment after the 3-month probation period.
