Laboratory - Data Entry Representative

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Abbott Rapid Diagnostics is part of Abbott’s Diagnostics family of businesses, bringing together exceptional teams of experts and industry leading technologies. The position of Data Entry is within Toxicology located at Gretna, LA at Alere Toxicology Services. In this role, the individual will be responsible for entering donor demographic information into the OCR computer system in accordance with the SAMHSA mandatory guidelines and those of other regulatory organizations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Data entry for donor demographic information into the OCR system

  • Review and verify chain of custody forms in accordance with established SOPs

  • Additional functions may include sorting in Accessioning, scanning and filing chain of custody forms

  • Adhere to all security procedures for ensuring confidentiality of donor information

  • Must comply with company policy

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS | EDUCATION:

  • High school education

  • At least one year of experience in data entry

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

COMPETENCIES:

  • Ability to type 50-55 wpm with extensive 10-key experience

  • An above average score on the data entry test administered at the time of interview

  • Ability to understand certification requirements for SAMHSA, CAP-FUDT, and other regulatory bodies

  • Basic ability to understand the function of a Laboratory Information System (LIS) and other laboratory computer systems

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have vision and hearing corrected to meet minimum acceptable norms

MENTAL/REASONING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to follow procedures and directions

  • Ability to use memorization as a guide for work completion

  • Ability to cope with stress due to production obligations

  • Ability to read and comprehend the SOP, Federal (49 CFR Part 40) and CAP-FUDT guidelines

  • Ability to communicate with other employees and supervisors
