Responsibilities:

JOB SUMMARY
Provides supervisory support and provides support in areas of phlebotomy, laboratory outpatient services, specimen processing and send-outs at all hospital locations. Supports service, quality and financial metrics/initiatives as identified by the network or laboratory and continually works to improve employee engagement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develops and ensures staff training and competency is completed to meet regulatory guidelines. Oversees staffs technical performance and coaches and trains on best practices. Assists with resolving personnel issues within lab department and functions as a subject matter expert to laboratory and hospital staff. Coordinates phlebotomy and CLA internship program to ensure students receive a superior experience and appropriate training. As requested, assists in providing feedback during performance evaluations
- Continually looks to standardize and improve workflows in processing & send outs. Works with team to develop and implement HonorHealth best practices. Ensures staff provides accurate data, reporting and billing. Evaluates and implements new products for quality, effectiveness, safety and cost containment. Responsible for all procedures in Phlebotomy, Send outs and Processing
- Updates new test information into the Beaker System to ensure timely and correct resulting. Researches and provides charges and codes for miscellaneous procedures referred to outside laboratories. Maintains reference laboratory CLIA license documentation
- Provides teaching, training and competency for students, phlebotomists, PCTs and clinical lab assistants. Helps resolve Laboratory Services problems by interacting with nursing, physicians, laboratory and other hospital staff. Oversees and monitors phlebotomists’ specimens and techniques
- Assists in troubleshooting & documentation of specimen problem issues. Assists and recommends staffing levels and budgets at each hospital location.
EDUCATION
- Bachelors In a health related field Required or
- Masters In a health related field Preferred
EXPERIENCE
- 3 years years as a MT or MLT Required
- 5 years years working in hospital or reference laboratory with Phlebotomy or SendOut oversite Required
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Medical Technologist (AMT) - Certification MT or MLT Preferred
