Laborer

NIKA is hiring for a Laborer to support the Mission Support Client in Kodiak, AK. This role will sit fully onsite and may offer relocation for the right candidate. This position will operate under a CBA with the Teamsters 959 Union.

Job Description:

• The Laborer performs tasks that require mainly physical abilities and effort involving little or no specialized skill or prior work experience.
• Loads and unloads trucks, and other conveyances.]
• Moves supplies and materials to proper location by wheelbarrow or hand truck.
• Stacks materials for storage or binning.
• Collects refuse and salvageable materials.
• Digs, fills, and tamps earth excavations.
• Levels ground using pick, shovel, and rake.
• Shovels materials such as concrete or snow.
• Cleans culverts, ditches, sidewalks, streets, and buildings.
• Cuts and trims grass, trees, shrubs and brush.
• Operates power lawnmowers, equipment, and vacuums.
• Moves and arranges pieces of heavy office and household furniture, equipment and appliances.
• Moves and arranges pieces of automotive, medical, engineering and other types of machinery and equipment.
• Spread materials such as sand or salt on icy walkways and roads.
• Picks up leaves and trash.
• Cleans moss debris from roofs and rain gutters

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalency.
• Ability to pass a background and drug screening.
• Must maintain in good standing with Teamsters 959 Union.
