Landscape Site Supervisor / Crew Leader
Location: Battle Creek, MI
Pay Range: $19.00 to $21.00 per hour, with higher starting pay available based on relevant experience, certifications, and licenses.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Landscape Site Supervisor / Crew Leader to lead landscape maintenance and installation crews while ensuring exceptional service, safety, and quality standards. This position is responsible for supervising daily operations at client sites, coordinating work activities, mentoring team members, and maintaining strong customer relationships.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with landscaping experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to motivate crews while delivering high-quality results.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
- Valid Driver's License
- Valid Michigan Chauffeur's License or Chauffeur's Endorsement
- Candidates who do not currently possess a Chauffeur's License must be willing to obtain one at their own expense prior to their start date.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Landscape Crew Leader or Landscape Supervisor
- Minimum of 2 years of Snow removal and snow operations experience
- Ability to pass a background check and DOT medical examination, including drug screening, following a conditional offer of employment
- Willingness to obtain Michigan MDARD Pesticide Licenses (Categories 3A, 3B, and 6) within 60 days of hire if not already licensed
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current MDARD Pesticide Licenses (Categories 3A, 3B, and 6)
- Irrigation troubleshooting, repair, spring startup, and fall winterization experience
- Hardscape installation experience
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Key Responsibilities
Crew Leadership & Operations
- Lead and supervise daily landscape operations at assigned client sites
- Assign, coordinate, and monitor crew activities
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to company quality standards
- Maintain schedules and ensure service commitments are met
- Coordinate work execution with the Operations Manager
- Assist with training, mentoring, and developing crew members
- Provide performance feedback on team members to management
Customer Service
- Build and maintain positive client relationships
- Identify and communicate customer concerns or service issues
- Partner with the Operations Manager to resolve customer requests and maintain client satisfaction
- Ensure client expectations are consistently met or exceeded
Landscape Maintenance & Installation
Assist and lead crews in performing:
- Mowing
- Pruning
- Planting trees, shrubs, and flowers
- Watering and fertilizing
- Digging, raking, and site preparation
- Landscape and irrigation installations
- General grounds maintenance
- Snow Removal Services
Equipment & Safety
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained and operating safely
- Track equipment usage and maintenance schedules
- Conduct safety inspections and enforce all company safety policies
- Monitor traffic hazards, personal protective equipment requirements, and job site safety conditions
- Maintain required chemical and hazardous materials documentation
- Report accidents, incidents, and unsafe conditions promptly
- Participate in branch meetings and weekly safety meetings
Administrative Responsibilities
- Accurately submit electronic crew time records
- Complete required documentation and reports
- Maintain compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
- Comply with business ethics, applicable laws and regulations
- Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information
- Periodically reconcile physical assets to accounting records
Physical Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old (21 years old to operate company vehicles)
- Ability to safely operate landscaping equipment including mowers, trimmers, blowers, edgers, and related machinery
- Ability to safely operate snow removal equipment including plow trucks, salt trucks, skid steers, backhoes, loaders, snow blowers, UTVs and sidewalk machines
- Ability to repeatedly bend, kneel, lift, twist, and perform manual labor throughout the workday
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to operate hand tools such as shovels and rakes for extended periods
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Ability to work extended hours, overtime, weekends, and holidays when required
Work Environment
This position requires working outdoors in a variety of environmental conditions, including:
- Extreme heat and cold
- Direct sunlight
- Rain, humidity, dust, and wind
- Areas near vehicle traffic and bodies of water
- Exposure to loud equipment noise
- Exposure to pollen, weeds, insects, and other outdoor allergens
Candidates must have the stamina and physical ability to work outdoors for extended periods in changing weather conditions.
