Laser Cladding Engineer/Specialist
Summary
Operate and maintain laser cladding systems to repair and coat industrial components, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards in a heavy-industry setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and monitor laser cladding systems, including the robotic arm, powder feeding system, and control software.
- Execute laser cladding and welding processes in accordance with approved WPS, QHSE procedures, and customer requirements.
- Prepare work pieces prior to cladding, including cleaning and pre-inspection such as visual, dimensional, NDT and hardness checks.
- Maintain accurate and complete process records, including timesheets, routine check sheets, and WPS compliance documentation.
- Ensure all work complies with in-house procedures, QWI, and IACS / classification society standards.
- Work closely with engineering and workshop teams on the development, optimization, and continuous improvement of processes and procedures for new components.
- Support R&D activities, including testing new filler powders and developing new repair procedures, as required.
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration of laser systems, including optics, powder feeders, safety interlocks, and associated equipment.
- Strictly adhere to in-house safety policies, including laser safety requirements and PPE compliance.
- Ensure laser equipment, tools, and work areas are maintained in good condition, with proper housekeeping standards at all times.
- Provide cross-training and mentoring to junior operators or technicians in laser cladding operations.
- Be prepared, when required, to attend vessels for on-site laser cladding or welding works, and to support other departments on assigned projects from time to time by management.
Requirements:
- Diploma in Mechanical, Electro Mechanical or any otherengineering disciplines.
- Minimum 3 years’ hands-on experience in laser cladding and/or laser welding.
- Experience with marine, power, mining, or heavy industrial segment components.
- Knowledge in ASME Sec IX, ISO/EN standard is an essential and required.
