Laser Cladding Technician / Operator
Summary
Operates and maintains laser cladding equipment to repair and coat metal components, following safety and quality procedures in a workshop or on-site setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate laser cladding equipment according to approved procedures.
- Prepare workpieces by cleaning, machining and fixturing prior to laser cladding.
- Perform machine setup, calibration and routine operational checks.
- Monitor laser cladding process and adjust machine parameters as instructed.
- Carry out dimensional inspection and visual inspection of repaired components.
- Record production data, machine parameters and inspection results.
- Perform routine maintenance and housekeeping of laser equipment and work area.
- Follow all Quality, Safety and Environmental procedures.
- Report equipment abnormalities and quality issues to the Engineer/Supervisor.
- Support workshop activities, machining and welding work when required.
- Be prepared, when required, to attend vessels for on-site laser cladding or welding works, and to support other departments on assigned projects from time to time as directed by Management.
Requirements:
- NITEC / Higher NITEC / ITE Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Precision Engineering, Manufacturing Technology or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years in machining, welding, fabrication, CNC operation or mechanical repair.
- Experience operating laser equipment or CNC machinery is preferred.
- Understanding and able to intrepid of technical drawings, engineering designs and sketches.
- Familiar with functioning of laser system including robotic, welding heads, manipulators or, coding will be added advantage thus not required.
