Lathe Machinist
• Operate conventional lathe machines to perform turning, facing, boring, drilling and taper machining.
• Carry out valve seat taper machining according to approved drawings and required dimensions.
• Perform internal and external thread cutting to specified thread forms and sizes.
• Set up workpieces, select cutting tools and adjust machine speeds and feeds to achieve required tolerances and surface finishes.
• Inspect completed components, perform routine machine care and maintain safe workshop practices.
Requirements
• ITI, Diploma or relevant trade qualification in Machining, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Hands-on experience operating and setting up conventional lathe machines.
• Proven ability to perform valve seat taper machining accurately.
• Experience in thread cutting, turning, boring and other precision machining activities.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and verify machining tolerances using micrometers, vernier calipers and gauges.
• Good understanding of cutting tools, machining parameters, workshop safety and routine machine maintenance.
