Laundry Supervisor
Main duties:
Administration
Go through log book for follow up.
Periodical check-up of linen chart and pantry to ensure all housework is completed within the same day.
Ensure all linen/rewash linen has been returned promptly.
Check for any preventive maintenance requirements.
Keep records of daily housework and production.
Rotate employees to different jobs whenever considered necessary.
Ensure there is ample stock of chemicals and all other items required for the department.
Keep records on attendance of all laundry staff to prepare duty rosters.
Financial and revenue responsibilities
Participate in monthly inventories.
Training and human resources
Maximize the potential of ambassadors through training programs. Identify training based on departmental needs.
Work closely with staff and provide on-the-job training.
Create a positive and relaxed working environment and develop teamwork.
Take action to eliminate potential problems and unhealthy practices.
Ensure wherever possible that employees are provided with a workplace free of discrimination, harassment, and victimisation.
Treat complaints of harassment and discrimination promptly and confidentially.
Treat customers and colleagues from all cultural groups with respect and sensitivity.
Identify and deal with issues which may cause cross-cultural conflict or misunderstanding.
Guest service responsibilities
Ensure that quality control for guest laundry, room linen, F&B linen, and uniforms is maintained.
Ensure all linen and uniforms are damage-free and properly pressed.
Check on quality finishing of the product.
Maintenance and equipment
Know how to operate all equipment and train staff in safe and proper handling.
Keep informing the engineering department about checking and repairing malfunctioning machinery.
Assist in scheduling preventive maintenance programs.
Miscellaneous
Supervise laundry operations ensuring hotel standards and procedures are fully known and followed.
Supervise outsourced laundry services for quality and standard procedures, ensuring proper storage of chemicals and respecting environmental procedures.
Ensure laundry staff has full knowledge of all textiles and their proper care.
Constantly check linen and uniforms for cleanliness and defects and recommend replacement if necessary.
Ensure work areas and stores are always in good maintenance condition and that fire hazards and safety hazards are removed.
All ambassadors are required to comply with every reasonable request from their hierarchical supervisor(s) within a reasonable time.
All ambassadors may be assigned other duties in the hotel as and when required by business levels.
General duties:
Health and safety
Ensure that all potential and real hazards are reported immediately and rectified.
Be fully conversant with all departmental fire, emergency, and bomb procedures.
Ensure all emergency procedures are rehearsed, implemented, and enforced to provide for the security and safety of guests and employees.
Ensure the safety of persons and property within the premises by fairly applying hotel regulations and adhering strictly to existing laws and statutes.
Ensure all staff within the department work in a manner that is safe and unlikely to cause harm or injury to themselves or others.
Use safe manual handling techniques and practice safe work habits following health, safety, and environment policies.
Maintain procedures to minimize environmental impact and prevent pollution.
Confidentiality
Ensure confidentiality and secure storage of all intellectual property and databases, both hard copy and electronic.
Ensure hotel, customer, and staff information or transactions are kept confidential during and after employment with the company.
