Lead Aerodynamicist

Salary: £98,484.8 - 133,036.8 per year

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 8-10 years post-graduate experience in the aerodynamics domain in a research or industrial environment, with relevant specialist aerodynamics knowledge
  • Experience of working with customers, suppliers, partners, and researchers
  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication, and team skills
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in a STEM subject is essential
  • Postgraduate PhD qualification or equivalent research in an aeronautical-related area
Responsibilities:

  • Deliver aerodynamics-related research, design, computational analysis, testing, and flight clearance for complex air vehicles

We are BAE Systems, and this is a 12-month contract opportunity for a Lead Aerodynamicist or Senior Aerodynamicist on an onsite basis at our Warton or Brough sites. The role sits within our Aerodynamics Discipline (E825) and our Airframe Engineering Flight Sciences delivery team, supporting current and future projects. You will help develop future generations of aerodynamic subject matter expertise across specialist areas such as flight control law development, flight mechanics, stability and control, air data system aerodynamics, aerostructures, near-field acoustics and vibration, configuration aerodynamic design, computational fluid dynamics, propulsion integration, air vehicle performance, stores release and jettison, and aerodynamic methods development. Our team works across a large project environment and collaborates with BAE Systems Barrow and BAE Systems Electronic Systems, with an expectation of four days on site each week, preferably Monday to Thursday.
