Summary

Lead Analytics Engineer at Dexters, London's leading independent estate agency, taking technical ownership of BI and analytics: designing semantic/dimensional models, owning Power BI standards and governance, and building consistent business metrics with DAX, SQL and related tools.

Dexters is London’s leading independent estate agency. We rely on accurate, timely and well-designed management information to understand performance across a large and growing business.

We are looking for a Lead Analytics Engineer to take technical ownership of our BI and analytics capability, with particular responsibility for reliable semantic models, consistent business metrics and high-quality Power BI solutions.

This is a senior, hands-on role combining strong BI expertise with the ability to structure data around meaningful commercial questions.

Location: Clapham Junction

Salary: £80,000-£90,000 DOE

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the technical design of Dexters’ BI and analytics solutions.

  • Own the definition and implementation of core business metrics, ensuring they are consistent, traceable and reconciled across models and reports.

  • Design scalable dimensional and semantic models for reliable, consistent reporting.

  • Establish validation and reconciliation controls to ensure reporting outputs are complete and accurate.

  • Own Power BI standards across development, deployment, performance and governance.

  • Build complex analytical solutions using DAX, SQL and appropriate transformation tools.

  • Translate complex business requirements into well-structured analytical solutions.

  • Improve the performance and maintainability of existing Power BI datasets and reports.

  • Design and maintain appropriate row-level security and access models.

  • Work with Data Engineers to ensure analytical requirements are reflected correctly in the underlying data platform.

  • Reduce duplicated business logic through reusable metrics and shared models.

  • Provide technical review and mentoring for colleagues developing BI solutions.

  • Work directly with senior stakeholders to understand business questions and challenge requirements where appropriate.

  • Communicate assumptions, risks and delivery timescales clearly.

What we are looking for:

  • Deep practical experience with Power BI in a complex business environment.

  • Advanced DAX and strong SQL skills.

  • Excellent understanding of dimensional modelling, star schemas and semantic model design.

  • Experience creating shared or enterprise analytical models rather than isolated dashboards.

  • Strong understanding of Power BI performance, RLS and governance.

  • Strong approach to data validation, reconciliation and quality assurance.

  • Ability to turn ambiguous business questions into robust analytical solutions.

  • Strong commercial judgement and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication skills and confidence working directly with senior stakeholders.

  • A track record of raising standards and developing the capability of others.

Experience with Snowflake and dbt would be highly advantageous.
