Melbourne CBD | Competitive Daily Rate | 12-Month Contract
Our client, a major organisation within the utilities sector, is seeking an experienced Lead Program Architect for an initial 12-month contract to lead the architecture stream of a significant Billing Replacement Program.
The program is currently in Discovery and will replace existing network distribution billing systems. This role will be responsible for assessing the current architecture, defining the target and interim states, and establishing the architecture direction required to support the program through detailed design and implementation.
This isn't purely an enterprise architecture or governance role. We're looking for someone with strong, hands-on billing experience who understands the complexity of billing platforms, integrations, data flows and surrounding business processes and can provide architecture leadership across a major transformation.
Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
· Lead the architecture stream across the Billing Replacement Program, coordinating solution, integration, data, security and infrastructure architects.
· Assess the current billing landscape, including systems, integrations, data, controls and existing architecture gaps.
· Define target and interim architectures covering system boundaries, integration patterns, data flows, security controls and transition requirements.
· Establish architecture governance, design standards, assurance checkpoints and decision forums across the program.
· Assess architecture options, dependencies, risks and trade-offs while supporting migration, coexistence and legacy system retirement.
· Work closely with business and technology stakeholders, delivery partners and vendors through discovery, detailed design and implementation.
Skills and experience - To be successful in this role, you will bring:
· Strong billing systems experience, including involvement in a significant billing transformation, replacement or modernisation program.
· Experience as a Lead, Program, Chief or Senior Solution Architect within a large and complex enterprise transformation.
· Strong capability across current-state assessment, target-state architecture, integration, data, architecture governance and design assurance.
· Experience leading multidisciplinary architects and confidently engaging executives, governance forums, delivery teams and technology vendors.
Nice to haves:
· Utilities or energy industry experience, particularly across network billing, tariffs, metering, service orders or regulatory processes.
· Exposure to billing and enterprise platforms such as SAP IS-U, Salesforce, webMethods, Oracle Fusion or Itron.
This is an initial 12-month contract, based in Melbourne CBD, offering the opportunity to play a key architecture leadership role within a major enterprise billing transformation.
You'll have the opportunity to shape the program from Discovery, defining the architecture foundations and transition approach that will guide the replacement through detailed design and implementation.
