Hong Kong Interbank Clearing Limited (hereinafter referred to as “the Company”) is a private organization jointly owned by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and The Hong Kong Association of Banks. The Company’s key objective is to develop and operate a safe and efficient multi-currency and multi-dimensional financial infrastructure in Hong Kong for:

• large-value interbank fund transfers denominated in HKD, USD, Euro and RMB;

• interbank money settlement of equity and debt securities transactions in Hong Kong via the linkages with the Hong Kong Securities Clearing Company Limited and the HKMA’s Central Moneymarkets Unit (CMU) system;

• small-value interbank fund transfers denominated in HKD and RMB via the HKD and RMB Faster Payment System; and

• interbank clearing and/or money settlement of paper cheques and various types of electronic payments in Hong Kong.

The Company is also the operator of the HKMA’s CMU system.

Apart from interbank clearing-and-settlement services, the Company and its subsidiaries also support the HKMA and the financial industry to foster the development of the financial technology (“FinTech”) ecosystem in Hong Kong.

We are looking for a suitable candidate to take up the following job position.

Lead Architect (Enterprise Architect - Application)

Major Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end application architectures including microservices, APIs, data models and integration patterns

• Ensure applications are designed for high availability, low latency and seamless horizontal scaling

• Define iterative roadmap for modernization and cloud native migration

• Define, promote and enforce architectural pattern, and CICD best practices

• Participate in the architectural review boards to ensure alignment with organization strategic roadmap

• Review the solutions proposed from different project teams to ensure it aligns with the architecture roadmap of the group

• Provide technical guidance to the project teams to ensure no technical debt being implemented

• Ensure solutions’ alignment with IT and business strategies and business capabilities, reuse principles, and vendor strategies

• Continuously assess industry trends to ensure platforms remain future-proof and competitive

• Perform other duties or projects as assigned

Requirements

• University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related disciplines

• At least 15 years of relevant software engineering experience, including at least 5 years focused on application architecture design

• Experience designing and deploy large-scale application in production environments

• Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP) and containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)

• Expert knowledge of API design and message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ)

• Strong understanding of rational databases and NoSQL solutions

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) and DevOps tools

• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

• Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, proficiency in Putonghua is an advantage
