Lead Automation Tester - Playwright, CI/CD & Mentorship

The Western Cape Department of Health is seeking a Senior / Lead Automation Tester to join its engineering team at the Provincial Health Data Centre. The role combines hands-on testing with leadership, mentoring junior testers, and ownership of deliverables.

You will design scalable automation frameworks (Playwright), perform API, integration, and data validation, work with CI/CD, and collaborate with developers to ensure high-quality software delivery.

Lead test strategy and planning with stakeholders. Design, build, and maintain Playwright-based automated tests. Perform functional, integration, regression, and API testing; manage defects. Mentor junior testers and drive process improvements. Coordinate with software teams and ensure data integrity in CI/CD. 5 to 7+ years of professional software testing experience. Experience with manual and automated testing in Agile/Scrum and DevOps. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience with database technologies and data validation.
