As a Lead Azure Data Consultant, you'll combine technical leadership with hands-on delivery, shaping solution architecture and guiding complex workstreams from discovery through to implementation. You'll work closely with senior stakeholders to turn complex data challenges into reliable, actionable insights, while supporting consultants and engineers throughout the delivery lifecycle.
You'll design and deliver modern data solutions using technologies such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics and Power BI.
You don't need experience with every technology in the Microsoft data ecosystem. We're looking for strong consulting experience, sound data architecture knowledge and technical depth across several relevant platforms.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead client discovery sessions, translating business requirements into pragmatic data and analytics solutions.
- Shape solution architecture and provide technical leadership across complex delivery workstreams.
- Design and deliver modern data platforms using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks and other Microsoft data technologies.
- Advise clients on data architecture, governance, analytics and engineering best practices.
- Design scalable data models, warehouses, lakehouses and ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Develop or oversee semantic models, dashboards and visualisations that turn complex data into clear, actionable insights.
- Review technical designs to ensure solutions are secure, scalable, reliable and maintainable.
- Work closely with senior client stakeholders, architects, engineers and delivery teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Mentor consultants and engineers, sharing knowledge and maintaining high technical standards.
- Contribute to reusable solutions, continual improvement and the adoption of emerging Microsoft data technologies.
Skills & Experience
- Strong experience delivering data and analytics solutions in a client-facing consultancy, systems integrator or comparable environment.
- Experience leading technical workstreams and engaging confidently with senior client stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of modern data architecture, data modelling and ETL/ELT principles.
- Hands-on experience with several Microsoft data technologies, such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Power BI or Azure Data Lake.
- Strong SQL skills and experience designing data warehouses, lakehouses or analytical data models.
- The ability to translate business requirements into clear, practical technical designs.
- Experience taking solutions from discovery and architecture through to implementation.
- Excellent communication, facilitation and problem-solving skills.
- Active UK SC Clearance or eligibility to obtain it.
Experience in any of the following would be valuable, but we don't expect applicants to have everything:
- Microsoft Fabric architecture and implementation.
- Azure Databricks, Apache Spark, PySpark or Python.
- Delta Lake, lakehouse or medallion architecture.
- Power BI semantic modelling, DAX and dashboard development.
- Azure Machine Learning or predictive analytics.
- Kimball dimensional-modelling techniques.
- Data governance, data quality or master data management.
- Mentoring data engineers, analysts or consultants.
- Supporting bids, pre-sales activity or solution estimation.
- Relevant Microsoft certifications.
- Ownership of complex, high-value technical workstreams.
