Lead Backend Engineer
You will own and deliver backend engineering work for AI and agentic initiatives. You will define, scope, and prioritize work with cross-functional stakeholders; architect scalable Java and Kotlin backend systems; mentor offshore direct reports; and improve engineering operations while remaining hands-on.
Responsibilities
- Own and deliver backend engineering work across AI and agentic initiatives
- Partner with engineering, product, and healthcare stakeholders to define, scope, and prioritize work
- Provide day-to-day technical guidance and mentorship to offshore direct reports
- Architect and implement scalable backend systems using Java and/or Kotlin
- Improve Engineering team operations continuously
Requirements
- 8+ years of backend engineering experience
- Strong command of Java, Kotlin, or other languages
- Experience as a lead-level individual contributor
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally to define technical scope and deliver against business priorities
- Experience with or interest in managing remote and/or offshore engineers across time zones
