Lead CDL Fleet Driver
Job Summary:
The Lead CDL Fleet Driver plays a critical role in the safe and efficient operation of SimonMed’s mobile mammography units across Arizona. This position involves transporting, setting up, maintaining, and supporting mobile units, ensuring a safe, clean, and professional environment for patients and staff. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong leadership, exceptional driving skills, and commitment to customer service and operational excellence.
Job Duties:
- Safely operate and transport mobile medical units to screening locations across all 15 counties in Arizona.
- Lead setup and breakdown of mobile units, ensuring steps, awnings, door handles, and other equipment are properly installed, secured, and functional.
- Conduct daily generator, oil, and fuel checks; maintain water and wastewater systems; and ensure units are fully stocked and operational.
- Perform daily cleaning and maintenance, including bathrooms, countertops, floors, mirrors, windows, and refrigeration units.
- Maintain accurate travel logs, coordinate schedules with site coordinators, and communicate travel times to all team members.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all personnel onboard, performing daily vehicle safety inspections and reporting maintenance needs promptly.
- Support patients on-site during setup, breakdown, or inclement weather while maintaining a professional and discreet presence.
- Oversee supply management, including pickup and distribution at the end of each shift.
- Lead, mentor, and support other drivers and staff, providing guidance on operational procedures and customer service standards.
- Adhere to all SimonMed policies, HIPAA guidelines, DOT regulations, and operational procedures, while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and patient care.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of related experience
- Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines
- Valid CDL (Class A or B)
- Proficient with backing and parallel parking tractor-trailers
- Excellent telephone and interpersonal skills
- Minimum 5 years of driving experience; 7 years clean MVR preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Skilled in operating Class A/B vehicles, mobile medical units, generators, and mechanical systems safely and efficiently
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations, HIPAA, and company policies; able to maintain compliance at all times.
- Ability to mentor, guide, and collaborate with drivers and mobile unit staff while promoting a professional and patient-focused environment.
- Capable of addressing operational challenges independently, prioritizing tasks, and making sound decisions in dynamic environments.
- Able to perform physically demanding tasks, maintain focus during long drives, and manage setup/cleanup of mobile units efficiently.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and climbing in/out of vehicles
- Sit for extended periods while driving long distances
- Good visual, auditory, and manual dexterity; ability to work under multiple deadlines and in stressful environments.
