Lead Cloud Data Platform Engineer
Summary
Serve as Xanadu's first dedicated data engineer, building the cloud data platform in Python and SQL: designing ingestion, transformation, and serving infrastructure, defining data models, and establishing governance (lineage, cataloging, access controls, quality) to support R&D, manufacturing, and business analytics.
Build Xanadu’s cloud data platform with Python and SQL, transforming existing pipelines into infrastructure for organization-wide data decisions.
As the first dedicated data engineer, you will shape a cohesive platform alongside hardware researchers, data scientists, and finance analysts. You will define data flows across R&D, manufacturing, and business analytics. This hands-on role covers architecture, governance, reliability, and platform development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and maintain cloud ingestion, transformation, and serving infrastructure
- Own layering, schemas, contracts, materialization, and query performance
- Consolidate workflows spanning R&D, manufacturing, and business analytics
- Define queryable scientific and business data models
- Establish lineage, cataloging, access controls, and quality monitoring
Requirements:
- Seven-plus years in data engineering
- Two-plus years in lead or architect capacity
- Cloud data platform experience built from the ground up
- Strong Python packaging, testing, CI, and SQL skills
- Production lake or lakehouse architecture experience
