Summary
Lead a team to analyze healthcare claims and benefits data, producing reports and dashboards to guide client strategies and renewal decisions using Excel and Power BI.
The Role
- Lead the development of cost and utilization reports (CUR) to support internal broking teams in deriving actionable insights for client engagements
- Analyse historical claims and utilization data to identify key cost drivers, trends, and anomalies impacting employee benefits programmes
- Produce detailed analytics including top 10 analysis, utilization patterns, and cost benchmarking to support renewal strategies and decision-making
- Translate complex data outputs into clear, insightful executive summaries and commentary to support broker presentations and client discussions
- Design and maintain dashboards and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) to enhance reporting efficiency and data storytelling
- Work closely with internal brokers to understand business needs and tailor analytics outputs accordingly
- Provide analytical support during client meetings where required, including explaining methodologies, insights, and recommendations
- Respond to ad-hoc data requests with creativity and a problem-solving mindset, ensuring timely and accurate delivery
- Continuously refine reporting templates, processes, and data models to improve quality, consistency, and turnaround time
- Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across all reports and analyses
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., brokers, insurers, vendors) for data gathering and validation
- Stay updated on industry trends, cost drivers, and analytics best practices within employee benefits
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Deliver CUR reports within 2 weeks upon receipt of complete data, with proactive stakeholder communication in case of delays
- Maintain high standards of data accuracy, insight quality, and clarity of executive summaries
- Strong stakeholder satisfaction from internal broking teams (timeliness, usability, and relevance of insights)
- Contribution to revenue generation through:
- Supporting sales and pitching activities with analytics-driven insights
- Identifying opportunities to position analytics outputs as standalone value-added services/projects
The Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in data analytics, preferably within employee benefits, insurance, or healthcare (employee benefits experience is an advantage)
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, complex formulas, data modelling) and Power BI (or similar visualization tools)
- Ability to interpret large datasets and translate findings into meaningful business insights and actionable recommendations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear executive summaries and storytelling narratives
- Ability to work closely with internal stakeholders and support client-facing discussions where required
- Creative problem-solving skills with the ability to handle ambiguous or ad-hoc data requests
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and quality
- Ability to work independently as a sole contributor while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Sense of accountability and ownership of deliverables, with a proactive and self-driven mindset
- Curiosity and willingness to continuously learn, improve processes, and challenge the status quo
