Lead Copywriter

Open 26d posting dated 2 weeks ago

Summary

Leads Castlery's brand voice strategy, crafting tone-of-voice frameworks and reviewing copy for global campaigns to ensure consistent, engaging storytelling that converts.

We're rethinking homes for how people really live, and we're looking for a Lead Copywriter to join our Creative team to help shape the future of living — one thoughtful word at a time.

This is a new role at Castlery, created to own brand voice across every market we operate in. You'll set the copy direction for global campaigns, hold the pen on our tone-of-voice framework, and build the governance systems that keep voice consistent as we scale across writers, regional teams, and agencies. You'll be the final word on tone - balancing brand storytelling with copy that converts while mentoring the writers who help bring it to life.

What You'll Do

  • Own brand voice as the single source of truth - build, document, and evolve Castlery's tone-of-voice framework and copy governance systems as we scale across markets.
  • Lead copy direction end-to-end for major seasonal campaigns and brand initiatives, from concept through execution.
  • Review and approve copy from writers, regional teams, and agencies, with the authority to send work back and raise the bar.
  • Partner with Creative, Merchandising, UX, Marketing, and Regional teams to shape copy that balances storytelling with commercial and conversion goals.
  • Brief, mentor, and guide junior and regional writers, building copy capability beyond your own desk.
  • Establish in-house ownership of brand voice and copy review, including scoping and transitioning existing freelance workstreams.
  • Shape product storytelling across the global assortment — turning materials, craftsmanship, and design intent into copy that's engaging, relatable, and built to convert.

What You'll Bring

  • 5–8 years of copywriting experience spanning brand/campaign and ecommerce/product copy, in agency or in-house roles (lifestyle, retail, or DTC experience preferred).
  • A strong portfolio anchored in short, conceptual copy — taglines, headlines, and campaign lines — alongside converting product copy, with evidence you've shaped voice and systems, not just executed briefs.
  • Proven ability to lead the copy point of view on a campaign or launch with minimal oversight.
  • Experience developing or evolving brand voice guidelines, tone-of-voice frameworks, or copy governance systems at scale.
  • Experience reviewing and approving other writers' or agencies' copy, with the authority to send work back.
  • Confidence partnering with and influencing senior stakeholders across Creative, Merchandising, and Regional teams.
  • Familiarity with SEO copywriting principles and ecommerce best practices
