Overview
In this role you will shape and lead the data engineering function within a scaling AI-powered SaaS business. You will set engineering standards, mentor a growing team, and own critical data pipelines from conception to production. You’ll work closely with product and tech leaders to raise delivery quality while keeping hands-on involvement with complex data challenges. This is a chance to build a principled, scalable data platform that directly delivers value to customers, with a strong emphasis on AI-enabled data work.

Responsibilities
- Define engineering standards, tooling, and ways of working
- Line management, mentoring, and recruitment
- Develop SQL-led transformation pipelines and Python orchestration
- Code review, automated testing, Git workflows and CI/CD
- Data modelling, deployment controls, and production reliability
- Integrate AI outputs into production data pipelines
- Adopt AI engineering tools with validation and quality controls
Key requirements
- Experience building or significantly m improving a Data Engineering function
- Proven line-management experience and track record of developing engineers
- Strong hands-on SQL and Python skills
- Solid experience in data modelling, cloud infrastructure and deployment automation
