Lead Data Engineer
Summary
Lead a team to design, build, and optimize cloud-based data pipelines and warehouses using AWS, SQL, dbt, and orchestration tools like Airflow.
Salary: £80,000 - 95,000 per year
Requirements:- Extensive experience in Data Engineering and modern cloud data platforms, with AWS preferred.
- Strong SQL expertise and experience with dbt or similar ELT tools.
- Experience building and optimising scalable data pipelines and data warehouses.
- Knowledge of AWS technologies such as Redshift, S3 and Athena.
- Experience with Airflow, Fivetran or similar orchestration and integration tools.
- Strong Linux/Unix and Bash scripting skills.
- Solid understanding of data quality, governance, lineage and monitoring.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to influence technical direction across engineering teams.
- Lead the technical design and implementation of scalable data pipelines, warehouse models and transformations.
- Own the day-to-day technical direction of the cloud data platform, ensuring solutions are performant, reliable and cost-effective.
- Define engineering standards, code quality, CI/CD processes and best practices across the team.
- Drive improvements in data quality, observability, monitoring and governance.
- Provide technical leadership through design reviews, mentoring and knowledge sharing.
- Work closely with Analytics, Data Science and Platform Engineering teams to deliver scalable data solutions.
