Lead Data Platform Engineer
Summary
Lead the architecture and operations of data pipelines, integrations, and databases, ensuring high performance and reliability for a fintech platform.
Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and technical roadmap for the team's pipelines, integrations, and datastores
- Work with leadership to prioritize problems and translate broad goals into concrete work
- Set standards for infra-as-code, schema contracts, observability, testing, and incident response
- Guide replication pipelines syncing Salesforce data into Aurora and Postgres databases
- Set direction for production Postgres databases, covering performance, indexing, and migrations
- Manage outbound data delivery to third-party partners and inbound ingestion pipelines
- Partner with engineering management on planning, scoping, and team growth
- Mentor engineers across levels through code review and technical guidance
- Lead the team through production incidents and drive systemic fixes
Requirements
- 8+ years building and operating production data systems
- Experience owning technical direction for a team or major initiative
- Deep SQL expertise including query optimization and schema design
- Strong command of ETL/ELT tooling such as Fivetran, Informatica, or Airbyte
- Working knowledge of AWS, GCP, or Azure data services
- Comfort writing and reviewing Ruby on Rails or comparable languages
- Ability to define and defend schema contracts across systems
- Experience with and willingness to work with agentic AI coding tools
