Vectiq is looking for an experienced Lead Data Scientist to join a complex Australian Government environment and contribute to the development of advanced data science, analytics and AI capabilities.

• Location: QLD, WA, ACT, VIC, NSW, NT, SA or TAS | Hybrid
• Contract
• Security clearance: Baseline or higher

This is a hands-on opportunity for an experienced Data Scientist to design, develop, test and deploy advanced predictive and prescriptive analytical models, with a particular focus on business entity resolution within the biosecurity domain.

You’ll work closely with technical and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into practical data solutions, develop production-ready models and support data-driven decision-making.

What You’ll Bring

• Data Science & Modelling: Proven experience developing and deploying predictive/prescriptive models, particularly for business entity resolution.
• Technical Skills: Strong hands-on experience with Python, SQL and R, data engineering, pipelines and transformations.
• Data Platforms: Experience with data modelling, data warehousing, Azure and/or Databricks.
• AI & Data Quality: Experience implementing AI/ML solutions into production and applying data quality controls such as validation, profiling and reconciliation.
• Stakeholder & Delivery Skills: Strong stakeholder management, communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to present complex analytics to senior and non-technical audiences

Experience working within a DevOps environment, cloud-based machine learning, Markov random fields, or Australian Government data environments would be highly regarded.
