Lead Decision Scientist, Revenue, Purchase & Order

Open 21d posting dated 8 hours ago

Summary

Lead a team of decision scientists to optimize pricing, purchase flows, and order fulfillment at Vinted, a European second-hand fashion marketplace, using statistical methods and A/B testing to drive revenue and user experience.

Brief info about Vinted

Our mission is to make second-hand the first choice, and we're looking for people who want to help us get there. Every day, we work together to help our members buy and sell pre-loved clothing and lifestyle items, giving each piece a second life – or even a third.
The Vinted Group is made up of three business units that support this mission:

Vinted Marketplace is Europe’s leading platform for second-hand fashion and a go-to destination for all kinds of pre-loved items, with a growing range of categories. Our platform connects millions of members across 20+ markets, helping great items find a new life.

Vinted Go enhances the shipping experience with a vast network of over 500,000 pick-up and drop-off points, partnering with more than 60 carriers across Europe, with added services like item verification for peace of mind on high-value pieces.

Vinted Pay is the newest part of the Vinted Group, dedicated to bringing secure, reliable payments to buyers and sellers across Europe. Seamlessly integrated into the Vinted app, it helps keep every transaction safe, efficient, and easy for our members.

Founded in 2008 in Lithuania, Vinted began as a way for friends to find new homes for clothes they no longer needed. In 2019, we became Lithuania's first unicorn! Today, our headquarters remain in Vilnius, and we've grown with offices across Europe, supported by a team of over 2,000 people.

Information about the position

The Revenue, Purchase & Order area spans three domains, which define the user experience through the entire escrow service funnel we offer at Vinted. From the value-driven pricing propositions, to smooth checkout and messaging experience, to the successful order fulfillment and addressing challenges when things go wrong. How do we optimise discounts for acceptable ROI and platform growth? How do we use pricing strategies for generating revenue without a cost on growth speed? How can we decrease cancellations through levers within and beyond your scope? And finally, how do we reduce friction for users’ order management? All these questions need guidance for measurement for us to be confident in steering the decision-making in the right direction.

We’re looking for a Lead Decision Scientist to join our Area DSA team to create impact by identifying and prioritising the most impactful problems to solve within this scope and ensuring they get resolved through influencing stakeholders, enabling your DSA peers to tackle them, or solving them on your own. We expect the Lead Decision Scientist to determine the right approach for each challenge.

You will report directly to the Area DSA lead, and will be part of the Area's DSA leads team. This setup will enable you to deliver impact across all three domains and will require close collaboration with all data roles and product directors for each domain.

In this position, you’ll

  • Identify, prioritise, and systematically resolve the most impactful Decision Science problems and opportunities across Pricing, Purchase & Order, ensuring solutions are effective, efficient, and viable long-term
  • Build alignment by engaging domain leadership, peers, fellow decision scientists, and cross-functional stakeholders to validate priorities, clarify, and measure trade-offs
  • Set and raise the standard for experimentation and decision-making across the scope by improving metrics, methods, interpretation, and how insights are translated into decisions
  • Be responsible for the measurability of success for key Marketplace Product programs within your scope
  • Partner with the domains' leadership to ensure measurability of OKRs and prioritise accordingly, where the input is needed the most
  • Be ready to own and deliver selected initiatives hands-on yourself

About you

  • Experience: You have proven experience in a Decision Science, Data Analytics, or Data Science role.
  • Analytical Mindset: You possess excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance the depth of your analysis with tangible business impact. You are highly results-oriented and comfortable with iterative processes.
  • Statistical Foundation: You have strong knowledge of statistical methods, including experience running A/B tests, regression analysis, causal inference, and other inferential techniques. You can suggest alternative methods when standard approaches aren't the best fit.
  • Technical Expertise: You have strong skills in SQL and Python. You treat data code like software, valuing reproducibility, clarity, and performance. You are comfortable with giving and receiving code and methodology reviews, and Git is part of your daily workflow. You are also experienced with BI tools like Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Master Communicator: You are fluent in written and spoken English and can convincingly present complex results and statistical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. You are effective in influencing decision-making without authority through data, communication, and collaboration.
