ZKW Group Lead Design Engineer (Series Production)
Main Goal:
Ensure the technical stability, quality, cost competitiveness, and continuous improvement of serial-production automotive lighting products by leading mechanical engineering activities related to series support, problem solving, design changes, warranty topics, and production optimization.
The LDE Series Support serves as the primary mechanical engineering contact for serial products and coordinates cross-functional teams to achieve customer satisfaction and business objectives.
RESPONSABILITIES:
- Technical Ownership of Serial Products.
- Act as Mechanical Engineering focal point for assigned serial projects.
- Maintain product maturity, functionality, and design integrity throughout series production.
- Ensure engineering activities comply with customer, legal, and ZKW requirements.
- Support lifecycle management of released products.
- Engineering Change Management
- Lead ECR/ECN implementation activities.
- Assess technical, cost, quality, and timing impact of engineering changes.
- Coordinate design updates and release activities.
- Ensure documentation and BOM accuracy.
- Problem Solving & Failure Analysis support
- Support Quality root cause investigations related to mechanical engineering:
- Customer complaints.
- Warranty issues.
- Production concerns.
- Validation failures.
- Support Quality root cause investigations related to mechanical engineering:
- Production Support
- Support manufacturing plants on technical issues affecting serial production.
- Support supplier-related technical investigations.
- Participate in line trials and validation activities when required.
- Customer Support
- Support customer escalations and technical discussions.
- Prepare technical reports and design justifications.
- Coordinate engineering actions resulting from customer findings and field claims.
- Participate in customer meetings when required.
- Cross-Functional Coordination

- Ensure timely completion of assigned work packages.
- Drive issue resolution through effective communication and escalation management.
- Coordinate activities between:
- Cost Optimization & VAVE
- Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities.
- Support Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives.
- Evaluate alternative materials, suppliers, and manufacturing concepts.
- Maintain product competitiveness during serial production.
- Documentation & KPI Tracking
- Maintain engineering documentation and technical records.
- Track open points and action lists.
- Monitor engineering KPIs, development hours, and implementation progress.
- Communicate project status and technical risks to management.
- Lessons Learned & Continuous Improvement
- Capture lessons learned from serial issues.
- Support updates of engineering standards and design guidelines.
- Promote best practices across programs and engineering teams.
